EDUCATION
THE SCHOOL
NASHIPAI MFEREJI School is the first primary school in the rural community of Mfereji ward-Monduli, Tanzania. Every year more than 40 students apply for the places in this school. The aim of the school is to provide the local children with an affordable and accessible education. Without this charity project, the vast majority of these children wouldn’t have access to education because the next school is too far away, not safe for them to travel and their families need them to start work young. With the Nashipai Mfereji school right in the centre of their village, all the local children have a fair start in basic education, setting them up for a much more fulfilling life with lots of opportunities.
AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE
At Nashipai-Mfereji school families invest less than $10 per year total to cover their child’s entire education. While their financial contribution doesn’t cover all expenses, it pays for operating costs at the school, solidifying each family’s commitment. The school is centrally located within the village, protecting students from the vulnerability of travel and giving them much-needed time to study.
STILL THE AVERAGE FAMILY CAN’T AFFORD TO SEND THEIR KIDS TO SCHOOL
While Primary school in Tanzania is free, getting the necessary needed items like Uniform, books, pens, pencils, and shoes are a great challenge. Even when families make great sacrifices to send a child to school, there is no guarantee of the quality of education. For students living in rural areas, attending school usually means traveling great distances daily, which can be both dangerous and exhausting. We work in the provision of Uniform and books for all students and other necessary education tools
AN ATMOSPHERE THAT PROMOTES GENDER EQUALITY
We level the playing field for boys and girls, whether it’s in the classroom, on an athletic field or on a debate stage. This approach builds the confidence of female students and teaches all students that everyone has strengths that are not defined or limited by gender. Provision of sanitary pads and peer education is the paramount approach in our foundation.
